For over 25 years, the Archipelago Trail has been a popular destination for cyclists, bikers and motorists alike, offering a unique island hopping experience. And with eight ferries and a multitude of bridges, the trail is accessible and free of charge (excluding one chargeable ferry between Houtskär and Iniö).

The Archipelago Trail is open from 10.5 - 8.9 2024

The Archipelago Trail is open from May 10th - September 8th, 2024, with a recommended travel time of 2-5 days. But don't worry if you can't make it during the summer season – the archipelago is accessible every day of the year. So pack your bags and bring the whole family to experience the beautiful surroundings of the Finnish archipelago!

Plan your road-trip around the archipelago trail

  • Day 1

    Pargas
    The first urban area on the Archipelago Trail, accessible via four sea bridges. The shops are located on Malmen, close to the charming channel flowing through the city. Gamla Malmen is a historic wooden house area that is worth visiting for a walking tour. Don't forget to see Finland's largest limestone mine, which can be viewed from a vantage point.

  • Day 2

    Nagu
    Nagu serves as a link between the outer archipelago and mainland, offering an archipelago idyll while still being easily accessible from the mainland. The area offers a variety of activities such as restaurant, port, events, beaches, forest, nature trails and sea.

  • Day 3

    Korpo
    Korpo offers many activities and sights such as restaurants, shopping, nature trails, and places to visit like the gray stone church and archipelago museum. Korpo is known for its rich art and cultural life, including Korpo Sea Jazz and artist residencies.

  • Day 4

    Houtskär
    Houtskär is known for its tranquility, beautiful nature, unique Swedish-speaking culture and dialect, small community and ferry connections between islands. The area offers a unique boutique hotels and delicious burgers at the guest harbor during summer.

  • Day 5

    Iniö
    Iniö is an isolated part of the Finnish mainland’s archipelago, on the border of Åland. It can be reached in the summer by ferry from Houtskär in the south and year-round by ferry from Kustavi in the north. Iniö is known for its idyllic architecture, small old village communities, scenic dirt roads and boathouses. The area offers a wide range of services and the beach is never far away.
